Esta é a imagem de um dos inúmeros cadernos que o artista Daniel Barclay (Lima, 1972), radicado em São Paulo, apresenta na mostra Caderno Jornal, em exibição na 55SP de a partir de 21 de julho. Para a ocasião, alguns trabalhos de Barclay, manipulados em gesso a partir de uma seleção de folhas de papel jornal e vegetal, e também, pinturas a óleo instaladas no ambiente da galeria, integram o atraente conjunto da exposição. A obra do artista muitas vezes tem apreço pelo formato de revista, álbum, publicação, folheto, e lida com o universo das cópias não oficiais de uma matriz, aquelas séries que passam a ser definidas como clandestinas, cópia da cópia ou surgidas diretamente de textos e figuras de impressão suspeita. Como imagem, é suficientemente intrigante que possa haver tantas interpretações possíveis de cultura e seus signos; e com tão distintas variações para o que passa a ser percebido como arte.

This is the image of one of the countless notebooks that the artist Daniel Barclay (Lima, 1972), based in São Paulo, presents at the Caderno Jornal exhibition, on exhibit at 55SP from as of July 21. For the occasion, some of Barclay works, manipulated in plaster from a selection of newspaper and vegetable sheets, and also, oil paintings installed in the gallery environment, are part of the exhibition's attractive collection. The artist's work often appreciates the format of a magazine, album, publication, leaflet, and deals with the universe of unofficial copies of a matrix, those series that are defined as clandestine, copy of the copy or originated directly from texts and suspicious print figures. As an image, it is sufficiently intriguing that there can be as many possible interpretations of culture and its signs; and with so different variations to what is now perceived as art.
