Marcelo Cidade nasceu  em São Paulo, SP em 1979, onde ele vive e trabalha até hoje 

Por meio de uma prática muitas vezes subversiva e informal, o artista questiona os ideais da arquitetura modernista, apropria-se dos espaços urbanos e, por meio de várias operações estéticas, inventa novos idiomas, construindo novos e surpreendentes espaços.

Comparando relações sociais e valores estabelecidos, Cidade produz uma “estética de resistência”, cria obras que expressam complexos conflitos sociais e trazem sinais e situações da rua para os espaços entregues à arte.

As obras do artista enfatizam um encontro entre arte e sociedade, sem deixar de privilegiar a expressão poética e a discussão da linguagem, também inspiradas politicamente por noções de desafio e transgressão.

Through an often subversive and informal practice, the artist questions the ideals of modernist architecture, appropriates urban spaces and, through various aesthetic operations, invents new languages, building new and surprising spaces.

Comparing social relations and established values, Cidade produces an "aesthetic of resistance", creates works that express complex social conflicts and bring signs and situations from the street to spaces given to art.

The works of the artist emphasize a meeting between art and society, while privileging the poetic expression and the discussion of language, also inspired politically by notions of challenge and transgression.
